MIBE offers a range of courses tailored specifically to the age, ability, and aspirations of each student, ensuring they receive appropriate training and support throughout their ballet journey.
Enhancement Course
The Enhancement Course is designed for students aged 7 to 18, divided into levels that correspond with their developmental stage. Younger students in Level 1A/B (ages 7-12) focus on building a solid technical foundation, with training aimed at improving coordination, musicality, and artistry in an inspiring and creative environment. As students progress to Level 2A/B (ages 11-15), the training deepens, encouraging a greater understanding of posture, alignment, and self-motivation. This stage fosters confidence and body awareness. At the most advanced Enhancement level, Level 3 (ages 14-18), the focus shifts to mastering higher levels of technique and artistry, with an emphasis on strength, control, and precision through a comprehensive understanding of muscle engagement.
Elite V1 Course
For students aged 8 to 16, the Elite V1 Course offers a more intensive vocational ballet training program. Students primarily train at the Queens Mill studio, a professional space equipped with sprung floors, mirrors, and barres. Training sessions run Monday through Friday, from 10 AM to 3:30 PM, with a dedicated study space available from 9 AM until 8 PM for academic work or online lessons. Parents are responsible for registering their children as home-schooled, but MIBE supports families by recommending suitable tutors or providers to balance academic and vocational commitments. The environment encourages discipline and independence, combining rigorous ballet training with dedicated study time to prepare students for professional careers or further education.
Elite V2 Course
For those aged 16 and above, the Elite V2 Course takes place primarily at Burnley College, which offers an advanced professional performance space and extensive academic options, including A Levels, BTECs, and GCSE retakes in Maths and English. Training typically happens in the late afternoons and evenings, allowing students to integrate academic studies and vocational training effectively. The college campus includes modern facilities such as a gym, cryotherapy suite, and sauna to support students’ physical well-being. For students unable to commute daily, MIBE assists in arranging host family accommodations, offering a supportive living environment. Older students may also seek independent accommodation nearby, benefiting from good transport links.
Embrace Ballet Company
The Embrace Ballet Company caters to dancers aged 8 to 18 who want to engage in a collaborative and creative ballet environment focused on confidence-building and skill development. The company provides opportunities to rehearse and perform full-length ballet productions, helping students enhance their artistry and stage presence. Rehearsals are scheduled over two 10-week seasons each year, held on Sundays, culminating in public performances that showcase the students’ hard work and progress.
Each course at MIBE is designed not just to teach ballet technique but to nurture the whole dancer, tailoring training to suit their age, physical development, and professional ambitions. This holistic approach helps dancers grow with confidence, artistry, and strength, preparing them for the demands of both vocational ballet and life beyond the studio.
