Thank you to Culture Burnley for sharing this footage of our talented students performing at the culture awards ceremony, we all enjoyed every minute! Students of Lynsey and Simon Kidd can be seen performing worldwide and it is a testament to the respect and friendships formed that they often return to inspire and support the development of the current Mentors in Ballet Education students. We are all very excited for the collaborations and opportunities that will see the town develop its cultural identity even further and the possibilities that intern brings to our developing students and their appreciative audiences.
Well done to Graduate student Momoka who performed beautifully at the Cecchetti Society, “Studio to Stage” performance held at The Royal Ballet School today. We are extremely proud of all her many great achievements, which include successfully auditioning for a converted place on the esteemed English National Ballet School graduate programme. There will be opportunity to see Momoka perform alongside all the Mentors in Ballet Education students in our Summer Performance in July. Details of the event will be announced soon…👏👏👏
What a pleasure it was to join in the celebrations of Burnley’s clearly thriving cultural community. Our students opened the event beautifully with strength and grace in some scenes from Swan Lake. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners of awards and we are proud of our friends Basics Junior Theatre School who received the Nurturing Creativity Award, offering over 40 years of opportunity to aspiring young performers. Thank you to all the organisers and staff who made it such a memorable evening and our heartfelt gratitude goes to Josh Webb and @hannah.shutt who returned to help us create such a wonderful performance.👏👏👏
We have an exciting week ahead, as not only are we thankful to be nominated for a Nurturing Creativity Award, we also eagerly anticipate our talented students performing and opening the celebrations at the Burnley Mechanics Theatre. Alongside current MIBE full time students, we are thrilled to welcome alumni Hannah Shutt and Josh Webb to also perform alongside. This will be a wonderful performance opportunity for our students to further develop their craft and a rewarding experience, to learn from those who have lived the journey to a career as professional dancers.
We look forward to welcoming all who have applied and are joining our fun and friendly audition this Sunday 22nd of March. Applications are still open and will close at midnight on Monday 16th March.
From elite training at the Central School of Ballet to performing professionally with Northern Ballet, Lynsey’s journey has taken her from Burnley to the world stage and back again.
Alongside husband Simon, whose own path into ballet began at a young age and led to a professional performing career, their shared experience in high-level dance has shaped something truly special here in Burnley - Mentors in Ballet Education
Now based at Queens Mill, Charlotte Street, they are using their years of training, performance and teaching to create opportunities for the next generation of dancers, building confidence, discipline and creativity through ballet.
It’s a story of dedication, opportunity and coming full circle, with a few unexpected moments along the way.

Some of our full time @balleteducation students were fortunate to have the opportunity to perform in such a professional and wonderful environment and represented the school and themselves beautifully. A big thank you to @constance.devernay and Sindy Monson, for organising and holding such a fantastic opportunity and for bringing the @northernballet artists to dance and inspire the participants even further. Pictured is former student Joshua Fickling with our inspirational Patron Kenneth Tindall. Josh is currently a Company Artist with Orlando Ballet Company and School and taking the on a Principal role “Escamillo,” in Kenneth’s fabulous “Carmen,” production.
Whilst in training Joshua had the opportunity to work with Kenneth on many occasions, but to now be a professional dancer performing such outstanding repertoire is truly the dream come true for a student who invested so much time and energy to achieving success.
We are very proud of all the students who have trained with us throughout the years and are delighted to have such great role models and ambassadors to inspire our up and coming talent.
Enhancement Course Audition application for entry September 2026 are now open. Auditions will be held on Sunday 22nd March 2026. Applications will close at midnight on Monday 16th March.

How quickly time goes by and aspirations will turn into achievements. It is undeniable that incredible amounts of effort and hard work go into developing and succeeding as a dancer, but it is the wonderful opportunities and friendships that will hopefully become the overall experience of a students journey. There are many highs, but also lows and both can aid in forming lasting bonds between those in search of a common goal. We look forward to welcoming students from our programmes to celebrate achievements and acknowledge key moments that hard work and determination have attained. 2025 has certainly brought great change, but the fundamental continued caring development and success of our students remains ever strong and true.🩰

Whether it’s all the hard work and dedication behind the scenes, or the wonderful performances, we stand united with all who join and celebrate ballet particularly on this day. We always enjoy our Wednesdays, with creativity, multiple ballet classes and teacher training, but today we reflect with that extra focus on appreciating just what Ballet means to us all. Thank you to all the dancers in training, teachers, choreographers, Directors, families and all who help to keep Ballet so accessible and valuable to those who in return receive so much reward. If you're ready to embrace the festive season, our dancers will be performing at 13:25 next Saturday 15th November 2025. The stage is on St James's Street, in Burnley and there will be lots of festive events and fun for all the family to enjoy!🎅
What a brilliant day for the future of dance, as these talented young men came together to inspire and share a part of their journey in dance with each other.
A huge thank you to @orlandoballet artist, @ficki500 for joining us online from USA and answering some very challenging and interesting questions from the boys.
Joshua’s great advice to the boys was, “enjoy what you love doing and work hard to achieve your dreams.”
