Can I Get a Dance Qualification Through MIBE?

Yes, you can gain a recognised dance qualification through Mentors in Ballet Education. At MIBE, we are proud to offer formal training pathways that support both aspiring professional dancers and those looking to pursue a career in dance teaching. Our qualifications are delivered through an ISTD-approved dance centre and include the Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) and the full programme of Cecchetti Classical Ballet Vocational Graded Examinations.

Diploma in Dance Education

The Diploma in Dance Education, also known as the DDE, is a prestigious Level 4 qualification regulated by Ofqual and awarded by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). It provides a clear and structured pathway to becoming a qualified dance teacher. The course is designed for students who have reached a certain level of technical training and are ready to begin developing the professional and pedagogical skills needed to teach dance. The DDE balances practical training with academic study and includes modules such as safe teaching practice, child development, teaching experience, and dance technique. Some elements of the course are delivered remotely, while others take place in person, allowing for a flexible but rigorous approach to teacher training. On successful completion of the DDE, candidates become eligible for full ISTD membership and can enter students for examinations. The DDE also opens the door to further study, including the ISTD Licentiate and the Level 6 Diploma in Dance Pedagogy.

Cecchetti Classical Ballet

Alongside our teacher training route, we also offer high-level vocational training in the Cecchetti Classical Ballet method. Cecchetti training has a rich artistic and technical heritage and is widely respected across the professional dance world. The Cecchetti Classical Ballet Vocational Graded Examinations are available from Intermediate Foundation through to Advanced 2 and culminate in the prestigious Enrico Cecchetti Diploma. These exams are designed for dedicated students who are committed to pursuing professional dance careers or advanced dance education. The training places a strong emphasis on musicality, artistry, precision, and the expressive quality of movement, as well as the safe and progressive development of technique. Students following this route should be prepared to invest additional time in lessons, practice, and independent study.

Cecchetti vocational training not only supports students in reaching the highest technical standards but also provides access to performance opportunities, competitions, and awards. These elements help dancers build confidence and gain experience in showcasing their skills in both formal and creative contexts. MIBE supports students throughout this journey, offering expert guidance, structured syllabi, and access to a rich network of professional mentors.

Both the DDE and Cecchetti qualifications offered through MIBE are part of the broader framework of regulated dance education in the UK. Vocational schools, companies, and educational institutions widely respect them. Whether your goal is to become a qualified teacher, a professional performer, or both, these qualifications provide a strong foundation and clear progression routes.
