CLASSICAL BALLET DEVELOPMENT

Enhancement Course

THE ENHANCEMENT COURSE was established in 2012, formerly named the Associate program, designed to provide additional training for dance students who show potential in Classical ballet.

Non-syllabus masterclasses for students aged 7 years + are held on Saturdays during term time and take place in Burnley College’s fully equipped professional performance space which features a sprung Harlequin floor.

Pupils study Classical Ballet, Classical Ballet Repertoire, Character, Drama and Choreography.

The CURRICULUM is carefully structured to provide a comprehensive and balanced training experience. It integrates specialised body conditioning exercises designed to enhance strength and flexibility, catering specifically to the needs of ballet dancers.

A strong emphasis is placed on classical ballet technique, ensuring students develop a solid foundation in fundamental principles. The program is designed to refine technique through a focus on posture alignment, body mechanics, and turnout development.

Beyond physical training, the course inspires a love for classical ballet, helping students gain confidence and stage presence. By incorporating performance techniques alongside technical development, students are equipped with the skills to enhance both their artistry and overall performance quality.

By interacting with LIKE-MINDED PEERS from dance schools across the country, students can share experiences, inspire, and motivate one another in a collaborative environment. This supportive space encourages everyone to push their boundaries and enrich their personal journeys.

SCHEDULED classes take place on Saturdays throughout term-time.

Students may further enrich their training by attending an additional weekly evening class from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Entry into the Enhancement Course is through an AUDITION process held during the Spring term preceding entry in the Autumn term. This ensures that students admitted to the programme are motivated and dedicated to their ballet training.

Students enrolled in the Enhancement Course have the additional option to enrol on the ENRICHMENT COURSES and audition for the EMBRACE BALLET COMPANY.
